My plan was to do a lasso-shaped overnight trip of 20-25 miles depending on whether I took a side trip, but the snow around Green Point Mountain stopped me right at the halfway point–I couldn’t find the trail any higher.

hand-drawn maps

For most new places, and anything with more than a few junctions, I bring a map. But I don’t always like printing or buying serious topographic maps; all I need is a reminder about which trail to take and distance between landmarks.
